Cycling through the Nordkapp Tunnel (Nordkapptunnelen) August 2025

Here's a timelapse of cycling through the Nordkapp tunnel, that connects mainland Norway to Magerøya island, where Nordkapp is located. I cycled through the tunnel in August 2025, at the end of my bicycle tour from Athens to Nordkapp. The tunnel is nearly 7kms long, and descends to over 200 metres below sea level, before ascending back up again. A few tips: - Lighting is pretty good in the tunnel, so you might not even need front lights. You do need rear lights though, and a high viz is not a bad idea. Make yourself visible to drivers! - The initial descent will feel very cold, and there was even ice on the floor at some parts. Layer up before going into the tunnel. - The ascent is going to be quite steep, maybe 8%. You'll get warm quickly, so remove layers in one of the tunnel pull overs as you start cycling uphill. - You might want to use the path to cycle uphill depending on traffic. Have any questions? Let me know and I'll do my best to answer!
