Don’t Miss This Road In Norway | Røldalsfjellet & Ryfylke Fv520 - Norway Motorcycle Adventure Ep7

Riding RV13, the old Røldalsfjellet road and the Ryfylkevegen Fv520 in southern Norway. Some of the best roads of the trip, and most riders miss them by taking the tunnels or the main roads. Back on the ferry and heading south. Today’s ride covered RV13, the old Røldalsfjellet road, and the Fv520. Most traffic takes the tunnels or the main roads, but the old mountain roads are the best part of Norway: quiet single-track sections, steep climbs, waterfalls, snow on the hills, and big open views. RV13 feels more like Switzerland in places, with green slopes and wooden houses. Røldalsfjellet was the highlight. You miss all of it if you go underground. The Ryfylkevegen Fv520 turned out to be one of the best roads of the trip, and the similarity it shares with Assynt in Scotland is striking. Stopped for lunch beside the fjord and bought apple juice with red pepper from a small farm. Norway is still expensive, especially campsites, so the day finished with a search for somewhere reasonable to stay and somewhere to wash a set of kit. If you’re riding in southern Norway, these are worth doing: – RV13 – Røldalsfjellet (old road, not the tunnel) – Fv520 (Ryfylkevegen) Big thanks to Runa Grydeland who runs the YouTube channel Off She Goes.
