India ranked 159th in the 2024 World Press Freedom Index published annually by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Reporters Without Borders (RSF)
- It is an international NGO defending and promoting media freedom.
- It ranks countries based on five categories -- political, legislative, economic, sociocultural, and safety of journalists.

Findings
- Norway topped the ranking, followed by Denmark and Sweden.
- The last 3 places are occupied by- Afghanistan (178th); Syria (179th), and Eritrea (180th).
