Since the 1980s fish consumption has tripled, since then the wild salmon population has dropped over 75% in the North Atlantic alone. It has reached an all-time low, A critical all time low even. Aquaculture has become an intensive farming industry like any other, causing health and environmental problems we all have heard of. Many factors have to be taken into consideration, such as pollution, overfishing, deterioration of the natural environment and so on. Generally the fish farming practices have improved, but there are still issues such as the large amount of faeces and pesticides plus antibiotics.
