That indeed is sensational! Well, that’s #JakobIngebrigtsen for you! The Norwegian middle- and long-distance runner just broke the 26-year-old world-best performance over two miles a few weeks back at the meeting de Paris athletics meet in Paris, France, as part of the #diamondleague meeting held in the French capital.
Has Jakob Ingebrigtsen always been this fast? Well, apparently. Born to a family of famed runners, Jakob grew up living with a family of historic running talent. That said, it is not surprising that Jakob decided to walk the same path. I mean, run on the same track as his father and brothers.
In fact, Jakob’s father, famed Norwegian sports coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen, who was awarded the title Norwegian Sports Coach of the Year in 2018, used to coach Jakob and his older brothers Filip and Henrik, who have both established their own impressive #trackandfield careers. Filip earned a bronze medal in the 1500 meters at the 2017 IAAF World Championships, and Henrik was the 2012 European champion in the 1500 meters. Imagine the competitive spirit of these brothers, both off and on the track!
