नाटो के सेक्रेटरी जनरल जेन्स स्टोलटेनबर्ग ने रूस और यूक्रेन के बीच ही अब तीसरे विश्‍व युद्ध की आशंका जताई है। स्‍टोलटेनबर्ग ने कहा है कि अब यह खतरा बढ़ गया है कि युद्ध सिर्फ यूक्रेन और रूस के बीच नहीं रह जाएगा। बल्कि हो सकता है कि आने वाले दिनों में यह एक बड़े नाटो और रूस संघर्ष में बदल जाए। अक्‍टूबर 2014 से नाटो के मुखिया की कमान संभाले स्‍टोलटेनबर्ग ने यह बात नॉर्वे के न्‍यूज चैनल को दिए इंटरव्‍यू के दौरान कही है.
The head of NATO expressed worry that the fighting in Ukraine could spin out of control and become a war between Russia and NATO, according to an interview released Friday. “If things go wrong, they can go horribly wrong,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in remarks to Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “It is a terrible war in Ukraine. It is also a war that can become a full-fledged war that spreads into a major war between NATO and Russia,” he said. “We are working on that every day to avoid that.”
