Linguist Noam Chomsky says tactical nuclear weapons have been placed in Belarus as the West continues on a “ghastly gamble” that Vladimir Putin will not use the destructive weaponry.
“The West is taking a ghastly gamble,” Mr Chomsky told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“They are assuming that if Russia faces defeat … Putin will pack his bags and slink away silently to oblivion – and not use his weapons everyone knows he has.
“Once you step on the escalation ladder, it is very hard to stop.”
