Cruise Packing List
On YouTube, there are tons of cruise packing lists. Plus, plenty of cruise packing tips. But many channels don't tell you what not to bring on a cruise. While some of the prohibited items on a cruise might seem obvious, many of them are not.
For starters, you should not pack weapons or any explosives on a cruise. This includes any toys, replicas, or props that might resemble these items. So, no toy guns, fake knives, swords, or self-defense gear. Leave the pepper spray at home.
This goes for sparklers or other light items, including torch lighters or Zippos.
Further, illicit drugs and paraphernalia are other items you should not bring on a cruise. It doesn't matter what your state laws are or if you use them for medical purposes. These items are not allowed on cruise ships and could result in you being kicked off the ships.
Some other items not allowed on the cruise ship might surprise some travelers. One good rule of thumb when packing for a cruise is if it heats up, it probably isn't allowed. So, items like irons and steamers are not allowed onboard. Although, cruisers can pack hair straighteners and curlers. Those are allowed on your cruise ship.
Cruisers should not bring household appliances on a cruise. These include tea kettles, hot plates, and coffee makers. Not to mention, you should never pack candles or incense for a cruise.
For those techies, please make sure your carry-on luggage does not include a surge protector. Those are not allowed on cruise ships either. Neither is a variety of sports equipment, like canoes, kayaks, and other gear like pressurized tanks. But you can take flippers, snorkel masks, or golf clubs. But cruisers can't use those on the ship; they can only be used ashore. But leave the pool toys at home. Floats and beach balls are not allowed.
Before packing for a cruise, check the cruise line's policy on alcohol. Many cruise ships do not allow you to bring alcohol onboard. Finally, leave the pets at home. Those should never be brought on a cruise. Yes, service animals are permitted, but emotional support pets are not.
