Vaishali and Pragnananda are four years apart. Pragnananda learned the basics of chess from his elder sister, Ramesh Babu, who lived a middle-class life in a small house in Badi, a suburb of Chennai. “Polio cannot go on big trips. Wife Nagalakshmi would take children to foreign countries.Cups are the most common item in Pragnananda's house. Most of them are trophies won by sister and brother in international competitions. Behind the success of both Prajnananda and Vaishali was their mother Nagalakshmi. Father Ramesh Babu cannot go on big trips due to polio. Mother Nagalakshmi keeps taking her children to different countries for chess tournaments. RB Ramesh, coach and grandmaster of the Indian chess team, taught Praggnanandhaa the ins and outs of chess.

"A Grand Master's degree in chess is like getting a Ph.D. Viswanathan Anand won the Grandmaster title in 1988. He was the first Indian player to win the Grandmaster title. As of 2010, only 22 other players have won the Grandmaster title. But, in the last 12 years, this number has increased widely. The current number of Grandmasters in India is 72.

Last February, Praggnanandhaa defeated world number 1 Magnus Carlsen of Norway in an online 'Earthings Master' tournament and won the grandmaster title. Praggnanandhaa, the youngest grandmaster of India, started playing chess at a young age to beat his older sister. "Now his goal is the world chess championship.
