Norwegian winter ambiance | Winter sunsets

Just like that. In that very moment, I was as one with the fog. The golden sun was beaming through the mist and I was hooked. It had me surrounded and I surrendered to its beauty. The water was so enchanting, it had me under its spell.

Cold, pristine and captivating. The month of January has brought us incredible sunsets and glorious winter days. I observe my surroundings and soak it all in. These are the last times of a truly magnificent winter. In a month from now, we will soon see changes as spring grows closer.

Just like storm chasers, Tommy and I sought out the winter sunsets to share with you. The amazing cold wintertime is amazing in Norway. Seconds of intense cascades of color are gone within minutes. I feel thrilled to share these moments with you.

We visit a church called Skute Kirke, a modern day Stave church. It is only 108 years old, unlike other stave churches in Norway that are around 900 years old. Nonetheless, the architecture is remarkable and I hope it will be preserved for many generations to come. The church is located on the west side of Lake Randsfjord approximately 2 hours north of Oslo.

I even tried snowshoes for the very first time. I felt like I was waddling like a duck. If nothing else, they are a good work out on the snow.
