Chairwoman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs & Defence in the Norwegian Parliament Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide has lauded India's digital revolution and the massive strides the country has taken in the domain. Speaking to our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal, she said, "India has leapfrogged 70 yrs head. We were walking in old Delhi, and different shops had QR codes. It could never happen in our country."
During the Delhi visit the Norwegian delegation, led by her, met Indian Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and trade minister Goyal. Members of the delegation include former Prime Minister Erna Solberg and former Foreign Minister, among 13 other senior MPs and party leaders.
Søreide extensively spoke on the Russia-Ukraine war and pointed that, "Ukraine needs to come to negotiations from a position of strength". The top Norwegian politician saw increased India Norway cooperation in renewables, and Arctic. She pointed to India's "ambitious plan" when it comes to renewables, and climate change.
