The 2024 Nobel Prizes in the fields of physics, medicine, chemistry, literature and economics were awarded in a ceremony in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
The ceremony, held at the Stockholm Concert House (Konsert Huset), was attended by the Swedish Royal family, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, ministers, Turkey's Ambassador to Stockholm Yönet Can Tezel, party representatives, foreign country representatives and award winners as well as many guests.
The awards, which were announced in September, were presented by King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden.
Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Daron Acemoğlu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson were awarded the economics prize, John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton the physics prize, David Bake, Demis Hassabis and John Jumper the chemistry prize, Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun the medicine prize, and Han Kang the literature prize.
Acemoğlu, who made a statement to AA reporter after receiving the Nobel Prize, stated that he was experiencing one of the happiest days of his life and said, “Especially being with my family made me happier.”
The Nobel Prize winners received a diploma, a Nobel medal and approximately 1 million 100 thousand dollars.
On the other hand, the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo for its work in the field of “denuclearization” of the world at a ceremony held in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
