New Baltic Pipeline Comes into Action After Nord Stream Sabotage

Poland lies just next door to Ukraine and Belarus. It is surrounded in the north by the Baltic Sea – a waterbody that has, in many ways, been of critical importance to Europe’s energy security. The Nord Stream pipelines run through the Baltic Sea. They were bombed, and are now defunct. But just a day after news of Nord Stream pipelines succumbing to a suspected sabotage attack became public, another Baltic Sea pipeline was inaugurated. Leaders from Poland, Norway and Denmark attended a ceremony on September 27th to mark the opening of the new ‘Baltic Pipe’. While inaugurating the Baltic Pipe, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said, “The era of Russian domination in the field of gas is coming to an end, the era that was marked by blackmail, threats and extortion.” Watch to know more.
