US sharemarkets lifted in response to the passing of the debt ceiling bill in the Senate and the latest job market figures. The Dow Jones rose 2.1% while the Nasdaq rose 1.1%. Oil prices rose by up to 2.5%, iron ore rose 1.8% but gold fell 1.3% and base metal prices were mixed. The Aussie dollar was firmer near US66.10 cents. The Aussie sharemarket is expected to lift 76 points or 1.1% at the start of trade.
