Foreign Ministers of NATO member states gathered in Brussels to discuss support for Ukraine and developments in the Middle East.
NATO Secretary General Mart Rutte made statements with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the entrance of the Foreign Ministers Meeting, which he will chair for the first time after taking over at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Stating that the course of the ongoing war in Ukraine and increasing military support will be discussed on the first day of the meeting, Rutte said, “We know that the situation on the battlefield is difficult. We must do everything we can to deliver more military aid to Ukraine.”
Rutte thanked the US, Sweden, the UK, Estonia, Norway, Estonia, Norway and Germany for announcing new support packages for Ukraine, pointing out the importance of these aids in the winter months and the ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure.
On January 20, Blinken, who attended his last NATO meeting before leaving office, said NATO must be ready for next year in the face of the ongoing war in Ukraine and other threats.
“I think this is a vital moment for the alliance to make sure that it is prepared for the year ahead. The Alliance is stronger than ever because we all know that it is the best safeguard against war, the best means to prevent conflict and the best way to ensure our collective security. It is also because every NATO ally has made a commitment that an attack on one is an attack on all.
