Markus Rooth set a 188 point PB in the decathlon to win Norway's first Olympic title in the event since 1920. Collegiate record holder Leo Neugebauer finished 2nd with 8748 points, his first global medal. Grenadian Lindon Victor took 3rd, making him Grenada's first Olympic medalist not named Kirani James.
