The city of Lillehammer is located 180 km north of Oslo on the shores of Norway's largest lake, Mjøsa. Lillehammer gained worldwide fame by hosting the 1994 Olympic Winter Games.

We will start our walk near Lillehammer Church (Lillehammer Kirke). There used to be an ancient frame church on this site, which has been mentioned since the 14th century. A new brick church was built in 1882.

Further through a cozy park, our path lies along the central pedestrian street of the city - Storgata. There are no high houses around, with beautiful wooden elements. And inside the houses, there is everything to attract tourists! Shops, craft shops, and restaurants. It's really nice to walk around here!

And now consider the main attraction of the city ski jump - Lysgårdsbakkene. It is visible from afar, and its height is 138 meters. The springboard was opened in 1993, especially for the XVII Winter Olympic Games. It was the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. It is also traditionally the venue for the ski jumping World Cup stages.

A little lower is Stampesletta, a multifunctional stadium complex. It includes Håkons Hall hockey hall, several football fields with different surfaces, and Eidsiva Arena. Eidsiva Arena has an ice skating rink, combined handball and floorball courts, and curling courts. Curling and ice hockey competitions were held here during the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Next, we will visit the pearl of Lillehammer, the Maihaugen Museum. This is one of the most beautiful Norwegian open-air museums. Here are collected 200 buildings built from 1200 to the present day.

Garmo Stave Church (Garmo stavkyrkje) is one of the main attractions. In 1882, the church was dismantled and sold to Anders Sandvig, who brought it to Lillehammer, where it was rebuilt in Maihaugen in 1920-1921.

And now it's time to return to the streets of modern Lillehammer, where beautiful flowers grow, sculptures stand, and fountains murmur. The traveler's eye rejoices at the successful neighborhood of new and old styles. See for yourself these wonderful reflections of wooden houses on the wall of the Art Museum (Lillehammer Kunstmuseum).

And of course, finally, it is worth considering the city and the lake from a height. There are two automobile bridges across Lake Mjosa, along which the E6 highway and the pedestrian Vingnesbrua pass.

Since the E6 highway passes through the city, many travelers to the north of Norway pass by Lillehammer, and we invite you to take a walk around the city. And we really hope that you will like it, feel free to ask your questions and write your wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them!;)
