On a foggy day I left Tromsø, visited the legendary Arctic Cathedral, and then drove along highways and tiny back roads (some too obscure to even be on my GPS) to the village of Olderdalen. The scenery along this drive rivals anything you can see on the planet: tall rounded mountains rising from fjords, with vast grey stone on top and bright orange trees on the bottom slopes. Mist and fog rolling across the upper reaches of the huge hills – and the occasional birds, sheep, and even humans communing with a very strange and special nature. This is Viking heaven.
