Israel demolished a Palestinian school on Thursday ahead of the start of a new school year.

The donor-funded school in the Ein Samiya community, near Ramallah, was built in 2022 but was immediately threatened with demolition by Israeli authorities. Locals, with help from the Norwegian Refugee Council, tried to appeal and prevent the demolition by legal means.

Since March 2022 the Ein Samiya community has faced constant harassment from Israeli settlers, who set up an outpost 500 metres away from the community in May.
