MIGUEL DEL AGUILA
Three-time Grammy nominated American composer Miguel del Aguila has established himself among the most distinctive and highly regarded composers of his generation with over 130 works that combine drama, driving rhythms and nostalgic nods to his South American roots. His music, which enjoys over 200 performances yearly, has been hailed as “brilliant and witty” (New York Times), “sonically dazzling” (LATimes) and “expressive and dramatic” (American Record Guide).

His music has international appeal and presence with performances by over 100 orchestras, thousands of ensembles and 56 CD albums featuring his works, most recently by Norwegian Radio Orchestra, The Eroica Trio, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, and Windsync.
2021-22 season includes premieres by Chicago Philharmonic under cond. Leonard Slatkin, and performances by Staatskapelle Weimar, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Charlotte and Chelsea Symphonies, the Minnesota Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Brazil’s Theatro São Pedro orchestra. Other orchestras that performed his works includes Toronto, Nashville, Albany, San Antonio, Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Sarasota, Codarts, Reykjavík, Caracas, Puerto Rico and Sao Paulo (OSESP) symphonies; Royal Liverpool Phil, Welsh BBC, Norwegian Radio Orch, Brandenburg State Orch; Kiev, Odessa, Heidelberg, Mexico, Buffalo and Louisiana philharmonics. He collaborated with artists such as Leonard Slatin, JoAnn Falletta ,Giancarlo Guerrero, Marin Alsop, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Lukas Foss, Gerard Schwarz, Jorge Mester, Guillermo Figueroa, David Allan Miller, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Andrew Litton, Eckart Preu and Jose Arean; SphinxVirtuosi, Windscape, PNME, SOLI, MACE, New Juilliard Ens, Philadelphia Ch.Ens, Collegium Novum Zürich, Kammerensemble Classic, Imani, FifthHouse, Invoke, Pacifica, and Verona quartets.

Aguila was 2021 composer-in-residence with Denmark’s Ensemble Storstrøm, following residencies with Orchestra of the Americas, Chautauqua Festival, New Mexico Symphony, Talis and Fresh Ink.

He was honored with 3 Latin Grammy nominations, Kennedy Center Friedheim Award, New Music USA/Music Alive, Magnum Opus Award, Lancaster Symph. Composer of the Year, and Copland Foundation among others. Recent festival premieres include Aspen and Bowdoin International Festivals, Chamber Music Northwest, Oregon Bach Festival, Mostly Modern Festival-Netherlands, and at Breckenridge, Cabrillo, Ravinia, Minnesota Orch.Sommerfest, Saarburg, Music in the Vineyards, Focus! Bregenz Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen Budapest Spring, Cervantino, San Miguel de Allende and Prague Spring.

After graduating from San Francisco Conservatory he studied at Vienna’s Universität für Musik. Early premieres at Musikverein and Konzerthaus were followed by Carnegie Recital Hall and Lukas Foss/Brooklyn Philharmonic concerts. Soon after moving to the US, LATimes praised him as “one of the West Coast’s most promising young composers”.

A sought after guest lecturer, his recent short residences include Dartmouth College, University of Michigan, University of Illinois, Vanderbilt and Lynn Universities, Universidad Nacional and EAFIT University- Colombia. He serves on Barlow Endowment’s Board of Advisors. He’s published by Peermusic, Presser and self-published.

MATTHEW KRAEMER
Recognized for his “musical sensitivity” and “energized sense of interpretation”, Matthew Kraemer is quickly making his mark among young American conductors for his inspired performances and versatility. Kraemer is Music Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic, Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra in 2015, he has additionally extended his commitment with ICO through 2027. He concludes his tenures with the Butler County Symphony (PA) and Orchestra Indiana this spring. His active guest conducting schedule includes appearances with many of the nation’s finest orchestras, including the Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Columbus, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Nashville, North Carolina, Saint Louis, Spokane, Syracuse, Toledo, and Virginia symphony orchestras, as well as Canada’s Mississauga Symphony, Niagara Symphony, and Hamilton Philharmonic and in Europe with the Vidin Philharmonic and the Orquesta de Cadaqués. Upcoming highlights include performances with Kenny Broberg, Samantha Ege, Zachary DePue, Demarre McGill, Dee Daniels, and Denzal Sinclaire. Future guest conducting includes reengagements with the Arkansas Symphony, Richmond (IN) Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, and Rochester Philharmonic.
