Incredible footage of snow in Norway..!! The most extreme freezing temperatures, Oslo freezes
Norway, January 4, 2024.
Heavy snow covered Norway in early 2024. A layer of snow as thick as 70 cm covered Southern Norway, specifically Arendal, in just one day. According to weather forecasts in the country, there will be an additional 40 cm of snowfall. Heavy snow forced the local government to close schools and kindergartens for safety reasons.
Norway is bracing for extreme freezing temperatures below minus 25°, following a snowstorm that caused disaster in the southern part of the state, leaving the country in a state of blackout. The most extreme freezing temperatures ever recorded were in Norway. On December 30, Oslo expects extreme freezing temperatures of between minus 20° and minus 25°. Weather like this means Oslo will be the coldest capital city in 44 years.
Denmark, Poland and Sweden, also suffered the same fate as Norway. Skåne in southern Sweden and northern Jutland in Denmark, could experience possible localized flooding due to extremely cold temperatures. Bad weather has hampered ferry operations between Sweden and Poland.
