This Plenary: Defending The Defenders: Our Call, Our Last Frontier took place during the 21st International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 18-21 June 2024. More info: https://iaccseries.org/
Countless individuals and groups stand up to defend integrity and confront the forces of corruption. The corrupt, in response, strike back crossing any red line in front of them. Since 2022, on average, an environmental activist has been murdered every second day, and the number of killed journalists and media workers have risen more than 50% from 2021. The time to unite in their support and defence is now.
What more we must do to end the impunity enabling such environment and effectively defend the defenders?
