A ship was attacked off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea, two private intelligence firms said on December 12. Citing two unnamed US defence officials, Reuters reported that the missile was fired from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen.
The suspected attack occurred on December 11 when the ship was reportedly within the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. The intelligence firms Ambrey and Dryad Global confirmed the attack happened near the key Bab el-Mandeb Strait. US defence officials said a land-based cruise missile struck the Norwegian commercial tanker vessel, STRINDA, causing a fire and damage but no casualties.
