Hanwha Aerospace of Korea will send more K9 Self Propelled Howitzers (SPH) and K10 Ammunition Resupply Vehicle (ARV) ammunition vehicles to Norway.
This follows a new contract signed on November 7, 2022, the company said.
Under the contract, Hanwha will deliver an additional 4 K9 SPH and 8 K10 ARVs over the next two years.
This contract is part of an additional delivery option related to a 2017 contract between Hanwha and the Norwegian Defense Materials Agency (NDMA) to provide 24 K9 SPHs and 6 K10 ARVs.
Under the previous contract, Hanwha has successfully delivered the K9 VIDAR ( Versatile Indirect Artillery ) which meets the operational requirements of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
The signing of the option contract was carried out via teleconference, attended by top executives from Hanwha Aerospace and a delegation from NDMA Norway.
The K9 Thunder 155mm/52 is the most popular wheeled SPH in the world today. This combat vehicle has been successfully made more than 1,700 units.
Since 2001, the K9 has been ordered by eight countries including Turkey, India, Poland, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Australia and Egypt.
