Greta Thunberg and activists block parts of Norwegian gas processing plant

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and environmental campaigners blocked a small oil terminal that is part of Norway's gas processing plant Kaarstoe on Saturday (August 24).

A campaigner with Extinction Rebellion Norway said the environmental group was calling on Norway to phase out oil and gas production to cope with the effects of climate change.

The campaigner was speaking from a small boat sailing near the terminal in a video released by the group. Reuters was able to independently verify the location and date of the video and photos of campaigners sitting outside gates to the oil facility using original file metadata from the source.

A company spokesperson said the facility processes condensate and has a "very small production". Gas exports from Kaarstoe to Europe were not affected, the plant's technical service provider Equinor told Reuters. -Report from Reuters
