On Wednesday, the leaders of Germany and Norway unveiled a proposal to strengthen NATO's marine infrastructure protection.
"We take infrastructure security extremely seriously, and no one can assume that assaults would go unpunished," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated at a news conference in Berlin alongside his Norwegian colleague Jonas Gahr Store.
The revelation follows explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines, which transport Russian gas to Europe, as well as suspicious sightings of drones near Norway's offshore oil rigs.
