Finally: Royal Navy frigates and destroyers will receive a significant boost to their long-range precision strike capabilities.
Norwegian Naval will receive the Naval Strike Missile (NSM), which will be equipped with a total of 11 Type 23 frigates and the Type 45 destroyers will be equipped with the Norwegian-built Naval Strike Missile (NSM).
The NSM will replace the existing Harpoon surface-to-surface weapons platform, which is due to be retired at the end of next year. The missile, which is four meters long, can engage enemy ships at a distance of more than 100 nautical miles at subsonic speeds.
