Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Emile Baron has been struggling to make ends meet since he retired from professional football. His situation recently came to light when Norwegian channel TV 2 did two reports on him, highlighting his financial struggles and the fact that he had tried to take his own life several times.

Upon hearing the sad news, fans of Lillestrøm, the club Baron played for between 1999 and 2005, called for a massive donation drive in Norway, with donations coming from nearly 5,000 people. Even current Norway coach Ståle Solbakken, who played for Lillestrøm himself, has contributed a “significant amount”.

Overall, 1.1 million Kroner (around R1.9 million) were collected from Lillestrøm fans and well-wishers all across Norway, providing much-needed relief to Baron's dire financial situation.

In this video, we share the heartwarming story of how Baron's former club's fans rallied around him in his time of need, providing him with the support and financial assistance he needed to get back on his feet. It's an inspiring tale of how the power of community and kindness can change lives for the better.
