CYCLIST Andre Drege has died after a crash during the Tour of Austria.
The 25-year-old was riding for home-based Team Coop-Repsol on stage four of the race when he lost control on a mountain descent.
André Drege, a professional cyclist racing for Team Coop-Repsol, died at the age of 25 due to injuries sustained in a crash at the Tour of Austria on Saturday.
The organisers of the Tour of Austria officially announced Drege's death on Saturday, July 6, following stage 4 of the event.
Drege fell on a descent of the Großglockner and suffered fatal injuries, according to the organisers of the Tour of Austria.

The 25-year-old, who had been with Norwegian team Coop–Repsol since 2021, was fatally injured on the descent of the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain.
A statement by the Tour of Austria said that Drege "sustained severe injuries" on stage four of the five-day race.
"It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Andre Drege," the statement read.
"Our entire team is devastated by this tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with Andre's family and loved ones, his team Coop-Repsol, during this incredibly difficult time."
Coop-Repsol said they are "devastated" by Drege's death and asked that his family's request for privacy is respected.

It is not è certain that the last stage, scheduled for Sunday, will be raced. Drege had turned pro in 2022, and was about to sign with the Jayco-AlUla team. He was 38th overall. This season he had won the South Aegean Tour' and the 'International Tour of Rhodes' in Greece.
In June last year he had died in similar surroundings Gino Mader at the Tour of Switzerland, during the descent of the Albulapass.
