Earlier this year, the Norwegian Spirit cruise ship made its maiden call at Taiwan, attracting much media attention. The liner is making headlines again, but for an unfortunate reason. The ship had set off from Keelung on Aug. 4, for a 6-day trip with stops in Japan and South Korea. On Thursday a passenger reportedly fell overboard as the ship was sailing the East China Sea.
The liner made an emergency U-turn and stopped sailing, before six rescue boats were dispatched to find the man. Nearly one hour later, his body was retrieved from the sea with no vital signs. The travel operator has set up an emergency response team to provide any necessary assistance.
