“Bombing your neighbours is not the best way to find good relations with them, is it?"

In an interview with Channel 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer was asked about Israel’s recent bombing of Syria’s navy fleet.

Guru-Murthy argued the attacks come across as “the kind of attack the UN means when it says you're destabilising this fragile situation”, to which Mencer responded by saying: “The new government doesn't need fighter jets.”

The Israeli military told CNN it had carried out 480 strikes on Syria since the ousting of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by opposition fighters on 8 December.
