Did you know there's a town in the world where it’s forbidden to die?
This is Longyearbyen, the northernmost town on Earth, located in northern Norway.
Here, dying is not allowed.
The climate is extremely cold, and because of the freezing temperatures, buried bodies don’t decompose.
For instance, people who died of the Spanish flu over a hundred years ago are still intact.
It’s even thought that the virus itself may still be preserved.
Because of this, when people here are nearing the end of their lives, they’re sent to Oslo, Norway’s capital, about 2,000 kilometers away, where they’re laid to rest.
