Two people were killed and 14 wounded on Saturday in a shooting at a nightclub and in nearby streets in Norway's capital Oslo.
A male suspect was apprehended five minutes after the shooting was reported.
Police don't believe any other people were involved.
Tore Barstad, a police operations chief, did not identify the suspect or speculate about a motive.
He declined to say what type of weapon had been used.
14 people were receiving medical treatment, eight of whom have been hospitalized.
About 40 people had witnessed the shooting.
Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Store, described the shooting in a Facebook post as a “cruel and deeply shocking attack on innocent people.”
