No — not those kind of crabs, you filthy animal. Actual crabs. In actual Norway. My dad and I set traps off the coast of Arendal and turned it into a competition: I picked my spots using intuition, he picked his using whatever it is dads use. Some context. I'm a singer, a sound healer, and I do somatic energy work for a living — which means I spend my days listening to what a nervous system is doing before anybody tells me. My dad does not do this. So we tested it. Same water, same traps, same bait, same afternoon. The only variable was how each of us decided where to drop them. I stood on the rocks and waited until somewhere felt right. He looked at the water like a man reading a parking sign. Then, while the traps sit, two other things: A mini guide to Arendal. It's a Chinese dessert — two ingredients, ginger juice and milk, nothing else. No gelatin, no sugar setting it, no technique to speak of. You heat the milk to the right temperature, pour it over fresh ginger juice, and if you leave it alone it turns into a pudding by itself. An enzyme in the ginger does the whole thing. It works whether or not you understand it, and it fails if you rush it, which made it the single most on-brand dessert I could possibly have made in the middle of a video about intuition. Then we pulled the traps. I'm not telling you who won.
